Florida high school's armed deputy resigns over failing to protect students

The armed deputy at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, resigned in guilt for failing to enter the building when the gunman opened fire which killed 17 people.

Sheriff Scott Israel said Deputy Scot Peterson should have “went in. Addressed the killer. Killed the killer.” Video footage showed Peterson did none of that. Israel also said that Peterson was armed and in uniform but did "nothing."

What I saw was a deputy at the west side of Building 12, take up a position and he never went in," Israel said." When asked what Peterson should have done, Israel said the deputy should have, “Went in, addressed the killer, killed the killer.”
