Five Taliban militants killed during airstrikes by Afghan Air Force
At least five militants, including a local leader belonging to the Afghanistan's insurgent group Taliban, have been killed in the airstrikes conducted by the Afghan Air Force in northern Sar-e-Pul province of Afghanistan.
A-29 fighter planes pounded the hideouts of the Taliban insurgents in the Mirza Olang area of Sayad district, the Khaama Press quoted the 209th Shaheen Corps of the Afghan National Army in the North, as saying.
The local leader was identified as Mullah Syed Ahmad.
The Taliban has not commented on the incident so far.
Earlier this week, at least four Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) terrorists were killed in an airstrike carried out by the security forces in eastern Nangarhar province.
The airstrike hit the ISIS hideout in Achin district, in which several weapons, ammunition, and explosives were destroyed.
Anti-ISIS as well as anti-Taliban operations are underway to eliminate the presence of terrorists in the Nangarhar province and the U.S. forces are providing air force support to the Afghan forces during the operations.
