Another terror attack on India will be 'extremely problematic': US warns Pakistan
In a direct warning to Pakistan by the US, the latter has asked to take sustained and irreversible action against the terror groups nurturing in the region and said that if another attack take place in India, it would be “extremely problematic.”
A White House official while briefing the reporters said, “We need to see Pakistan taking concrete and sustained action to reign in the terrorist groups, mainly the Jaish-e-Mohammed and the Lashkar-e-Taiba in order to ensure that we don't have re-escalation (of tension) in the region.”
While the reporters asked about the steps being taken by the Pakistan post the aerial strike by India in Balakot, the US official said that the international community is assessing the role and Pakistan will have to act against the terror groups, although he further added that “It's early to make a full assessment.”
The US official held that “But we clearly need to see more action being taken by Pakistan. We need to see irreversible action because in the past, what we've seen is they made some arrests and then a few months later, they released these individuals. The terrorist leaders are sometimes still allowed to travel around the country, hold rallies.”
India and Pakistan have been involved in a bitter face-off last month after India suffered a deadly attack in Pulwama, which claimed the lives of more than 40 CRPF soldiers, which was carried out by Pakistan based terror group Jaish-e-Mohammad. Post this, India conducted a “non-military pre-emptive” air strike across LoC in Balakot at the terror camps of JeM.
