After Obama and Clinton, now explosive package found at actor Robert DeNiro's New York address; investigation underway
After explosive packages were sent to Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and CNN’s office yesterday, which made a lot of scare across the globe, now an explosive package is found at actor Robert DeNiro’s address in New York.
New York Police is examining a suspicious package that was sent to Lower Manhattan’s Tribeca neighbourhood, and the address is directed to actor-director Robert De Niro.
The New York police department said it was investigating the suspect package and the Federal agencies have intercepted a bigger conspiracy behind it. Similar packages were found from the house of former US president Barack Obama and former First Lady Hillary Clinton, which was sent through mail.
The New York office of CNN was evacuated by the FBI after an explosive package was detected in the area. Billionaire George Soros, former CIA director John Brennan, veteran congresswoman Maxine Waters and news organisation CNN have also been sent devices.
The New York Police department tweeted saying, “We are responding to reports of a suspicious package in the vicinity of Greenwich and Franklin streets in Tribeca, Manhattan. Please avoid the area and expect a police presence and heavy traffic. More information to follow.”
President Donald Trump had criticized the activity and said that the agencies would take severe action into this matter. “"Acts or threats of political violence have no place in the United States, this egregious conduct is abhorrent."
White House, in a statement said, “These terrorising acts are despicable, and anyone responsible will be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law."
