6AM-11PM: A day in the life of a woman cab driver in Delhi
For five years, Pooja worked as a salesgirl earning at best Rs 12,000 per month. Today, she's a cab driver on the streets of Delhi, and she makes Rs 30,000-35,000 per month.
But the journey from being a salesgirl to cabbie has been one of the hardest routes Pooja has taken. She has had to answer some awkward questions from nosy passengers. “Aap taxi chalatay ho?!”, “Aap ladki hokay taxi chalaty ho?”
But with time, she has met people, especially women, who've encouraged her. “At night when I go to the airport for passengers, women feel safe with me. Many women have advised me to continue my work,” says Pooja
