Wimbledon 2017: Hip injury forces Andy Murray out of final warm-up match

World number one Andy Murray's troubled preparation for Wimbledon continued as he has been ruled out of an exhibition match due to a hip problem.

The British maestro, who was named top seed at the All England Club, had earlier withdrawn from a warm-up match against Frenchman Lucas Pouille, as well as from the knockabout game for Tim Henman's charity foundation because of a sore hip.

Reflecting on the injury, Murray expressed his disappointment for not being able to play final warm-up match before Wimbledon at Hurlingham, before adding that rest is the best remedy for his hip.

"Sadly I won't be ready to play at Hurlingham on Friday, my hip is still sore and I need to rest it today and likely tomorrow," Sport24 quoted Murray as saying.

Heading into Wimbledon , the 28-year-old will be short of match practice after suffering a shocking first-round defeat at the hands of world number 90 Jordan Thompson in his main warm-up event at Queen's Club last week.

Murray will be the defending champion going into the third major of the season, which begins on Monday.
