Nadal eyes record 10th French Open title
Spanish tennis maestro Rafael Nadal will aim to clinch his record 10th French Open title and his 15th career Grand Slam crown when he takes on third-seed Stan Wawrinka in the finals of the men's singles event on 11 June.
Nadal booked his place in the summit showdown after registering a comfortable 6-3, 6-4, 6-0 win over sixth seed Dominic Thiem of Austria in the one-sided last-four clash.
The 31-year-old, who missed seven months of action between 2012 and 2013 due to a left knee injury and then a stomach virus, is now bidding to become the first man to win 10 titles at a single Grand Slam .
Wawrinka, on the other hand, defeated world number one Andy Murray 6-7 (6-8), 6-3, 5-7,7-6 (7-3), 6-1 in a five-set epic to become the oldest finalist in Paris since 1973.
He will now attempt to add to his 2014 Australian Open, '15 French Open and '16 U.S.
Although Nadal leads the head-to-head with Wawrinka 15-3, the Swiss maestro stunned an injury-hit Nadal three years ago to claim the Australian Open crown.
