This Saath Nibhaana Saathiya actress selling ‘rakhis’ online to survive amid lockdown

The coronavirus has badly affected the livelihood of many people, including the entertainment industry. Due to the COVID-19 outbreak in Mumbai, people related to the industry like daily wage workers, crew members, and others have been suffering because of no shooting amid pandemic. Even many television stars have been forced to find an alternative method of earning due to non-payment of dues.

Recently, a video of tv actress Vandana Vithlani aka Urmila Ben, who rose to fame with her outstanding performance in the Star Plus popular show, Saath Nibhaana Saathiya, is also going through a tough time and facing some financial crisis.

In a bid to earn money, the Hamari Bahu Silk actress has started selling customized rakhis online.

A video of Vandana is doing the rounds on the social media, in which she can be heard talking about the financial crunch.

The video was shared by Hamari Bahu Silk actor Zaan Khan on Instagram. He titled the video, “PAY HAMARI BAHU SILK TEAM”.

He wrote a long note and said, “I am writing this post on behalf of Humari Bahu Silk team, my unit, just to tell you all that i am tired, we are tired. This is the reality of it all, association's are trying, the ministry is trying, cintaa is trying, producers association is trying but both the producers are just not ready to pay and blame it on each other.”

“My dress dada, my make up dada, my co actor's, me, we are all in a really bad state, little did i know that it would be this hard and torturous to get ones own hard earned money,” the actor wrote.

While talking to the Times of India, Vandana said that currently, she is keeping herself busy in making rakhis and selling them online. Though she is not getting much by selling rakhis, she added that something is better than nothing.

While Vandana’s husband Vipul is a theatre artist who has also no work these days.

"My husband, Vipul, is a theatre artist, and he, too, is out of work owing to the pandemic. I had auditioned for shows in January, but everything came to a standstill. Our finances have taken a hit. We also have to manage our children’s school and college fees. I am just waiting for some project to come my way," Vanadan told TOI.

Earlier, the lead actor of Hamari Bahul Silk, Zaan Khan along with other actors and crew members protested outside the building in which the producer of the serial lives and demanded their payments which have been overdue for a long time now.
