World Emoji Day: Apple launches emoji of hijab-clad, breastfeeding women
Marking 'World Emoji Day' celebrations, Apple on 17 July launched a new series of emojis, panning across women with a headscarf, bearded men, and even one of a breastfeeding mother!
In the next version of iOS ( iOS 11), scheduled for an autumn release, Apple will unveil the new pictograms, reports The Guardian.
Among the new pictograms, the iPhone aggregator introduces a food items such as sandwiches and coconuts as well, apart from the aforementioned human pictorials.
The company is also looking to venture into animals and mythical creatures like the T-rex, zebra, zombie and elf, along with new 'star-struck' and 'exploding head' smiley face, apart from smilies depicting a vomiting face and a wacky face.
Jeremy Burge, the head of emoji resource 'Emojipedia' and creator of World Emoji Day said the most popular on the requests handed in is of the redheaded emoji, which is not yet available on the iPhone.
Burge also noted that the demand for a 'hand heart' emoji, depicting two hands making a heart gesture, is also on the rise, with hearts being the most often used symbol on social media.
