WhatsApp latest features that you need to know about
WhatsApp has gradually grown and come a long way. From being a small unknown start-up at one time to now being a globally used messaging app with over 1.5 billion users around the globe. The app has fundamentally changed the way we text. The company has been continuously updating itself with the changing needs and norms of the market.
With so many competitors around, WhatsApp has managed to keep a hold on the market by keeping itself relevant to its users. The company has seen a lot of shifts but has dealt with them well. Facebook recognized the App's potential soon enough which resulted in the historic deal of Facebook overtaking WhatsApp for a whopping $19.6 billion.
Some of the key features added this year include 'Delete for Everyone' message, Which was first introduced in the October last year. 'WhatsApp Status' and 'Share your Live Location' are also the latest features of WhatsApp. Being the favourite messaging app, there are several WhatsApp features that you might have already used or aware of but here are some of the comparatively lesser known features in the app that you should know about.
Watch Youtube Videos in the WhatsApp
The latest update has come up with a new feature that lets you watch videos while staying in the App. All you have to do is tap on a YouTube link in a conversation and the video clip will launch in a floating window. The feature allows you to navigate through the App without interrupting the video. Also, one can change chats and continue watching the video.
Send or Recieve Money on WhatsApp
While there are already tonnes of Apps to transfer money online. Not everybody uses one but with WhatsApp introducing the money transfer option to its users, more digital transactions are bound to follow. WhatsApp will allow money transfers based upon UPI(Unified Payment Interface). This new feature can be accessed in a chat window and can be found alongside other options such as Video, Gallery, Documents and others in the Attachments menu.
Read the message without letting the sender know
The blue ticks on WhatsApp show whether a sent message has been read or not, but you can disable them. You just need to go to Settings > Account > Privacy > Read Receipts. However, by doing so, you will also lose the ability to check when or whether your own sent messages have been read by your friends. Besides, there is another way to read messages without triggering the blue ticks by enabling Aeroplane Mode before opening your chat window to read the message. You just have to remember to close the app before switching Aeroplane Mode off again.
WhatsApp Live Location Sharing
The instant messaging App recently released this new feature, allowing its users to share their locations in real time. The friend you share your location with will have access to your location. However, one can disable this rel-time access within a chat at any time.
As soon as you click on the location icon, it will ask you the time you want to share your live location for.
Use WhatsApp On Your Computer
Users can send or receive WhatsApp messages on their PC too. The company offers two different ways of using its service on a computer — WhatsApp Web and desktop apps. Notably, the two browser version of the app will work only if your smartphone remains switched on and near the computer.
