State of Panic in Rajasthan after Death of Two-Year-Old Girl due to Chandipura Virus

Bhilwara: In a shocking incident, a two-year-old girl from Eetdia village in Shahpura district of Rajasthan succumbed to the Chandipura virus on Thursday evening at a hospital in Ahmedabad. This is the second reported death due to the virus in the state.

The girl was admitted to a hospital in Bijayanagar and later shifted to Ahmedabad after her condition deteriorated. She was put on a ventilator for three days before breathing her last. The medical department followed guidelines to perform the last rites of the girl, taking all necessary precautions to prevent the spread of the virus.

Earlier, a three-year-old boy from Khairwada town in Udaipur had died due to the same virus on June 27 at Himmatnagar Hospital in Gujarat. Another girl from Jodhpur was also infected with the virus, but she was successfully treated and discharged from AIIMS Jodhpur.

The continuous reporting of Chandipura virus cases has created panic in the state's medical department. The department has taken all necessary measures to prevent the spread of the virus.

The girl's body was brought back to her village in a PPE kit, and all those who attended the last rites were provided with masks. The medical team was present during the last rites, and the family members were also given masks and PPE kits.

The girl's health started deteriorating on August 5, and she was admitted to a hospital in Bijayanagar. Her condition worsened, and she was shifted to Ahmedabad. The report confirmed that she was infected with the Chandipura virus on August 7. Since then, she was on a ventilator. Her condition took a turn for the worse on Thursday evening.

The medical department surveyed Eetdia village, where the girl lived, and collected samples from 302 households. The department is taking all necessary measures to prevent the spread of the virus.
