Raisen: Councillor dies in accident on way to Shraddh ceremony
Bareli/Raisen: A tragic accident occurred on the national highway near the village Beetli, resulting in the death of Bareli Councilor Arvind Malviya. He was on his way to attend a Shraddh ceremony in Amgaon, Narasinghpur district, along with his family members.
According to eyewitnesses, the car, MP 04 CN 9829, was travelling on the national highway when a truck, AP 16 TS 3229, hit it from behind. The car was severely damaged, and all occupants were trapped inside. After a heroic effort of about an hour, the police and residents managed to rescue the injured and rush them to the hospital.
Councilor Arvind Malviya, 65, succumbed to his injuries, while his family members, including Jyoti, 35, Jayvanti Malviya, 60, Lata Malviya, 65, and Amit Rai, 45, were injured. One of the women suffered serious leg injuries, while others sustained minor injuries.
The news of the accident sent shockwaves through the city, and people from all walks of life condoled the death of the councillor. He was the brother of Harendra Malviya, president of the Bareli Vyapar Mahasangh, and Harish Malviya.
Notably, this is the second such incident in the past three days. Two days ago, a family from the city was involved in an accident near Katni, resulting in injuries to 13 people. One of the critically injured was airlifted to Bhopal for treatment.
The police have taken the truck into custody and are investigating the incident.
