Krishna Devotees to Celebrate Janmashtami with Fervor on August 26
Alwar: The festive spirit of Janmashtami, the birth anniversary of Lord Krishna, will sweep across the city on August 26. This year, the occasion holds special significance as both Smarta and Vaishnava sects will celebrate the festival on the same day. The astrological alignment of stars will also recreate the celestial atmosphere that prevailed at the time of Lord Krishna's birth in Dwapar Yug.
Temples to be Adorned with Decorations
Preparations are in full swing at prominent temples in Alwar, including Mathuradish Mandir, Bajaja Bazaar, and Govind Devji Mandir. The temples will be decorated with special decorations, and the idols of Lord Krishna will be adorned with attractive costumes and ornaments. Devotees will be treated to a midnight darshan of the Lord, followed by a special aarti and distribution of prasad.
Markets Abuzz with Festive Cheer
The festive spirit has also permeated the city's markets, with vendors selling attractive costumes, ornaments, and decorative items for Lord Krishna's idol. Designer swings and cradles are particularly in demand this year. The markets will remain open till late at night to cater to the festive rush.
Schools and Organizations to Host Competitions
Several schools and organizations in the city will host competitions and events to mark the occasion, including a "Krishna Lookalike" contest. The competitions will add to the festive atmosphere and encourage people to participate in the celebrations.
Auspicious Timing
According to Jyotishacharya Pt. Tapesh Avasthi, the auspicious timing of Janmashtami will coincide with the celestial alignment that prevailed at the time of Lord Krishna's birth. The festival will be celebrated on August 26, with the auspicious period of Ashtami Tithi beginning from 3:40 am to 2:20 am the next day.
