Exclusive: Women Will No Longer Feel Helpless on Roadways Buses, CCTVs and Panic Buttons to Ensure Safety
Kota (Rajasthan): To ensure the safety of women, Roadways' new BS-6 buses will be equipped with panic buttons. If a woman feels unsafe or threatened, she can use the panic button located in front of her seat. This will immediately send a message to the Roadways control room, and a flying squad will be dispatched to assist her.
Here's how the button works:
In the new buses, a small red panic button has been installed next to each seat. This button is connected to the vehicle tracking system. If a woman presses the button for three seconds, a message will be sent to the depot manager and operations manager. The message will include the bus number, location, and the time the button was pressed. The message will help identify the bus's location, and the relevant manager will be informed. The driver and conductor of the bus will be alerted, and they will inquire about the passenger's problem and provide assistance.
Additionally, the buses will be equipped with CCTV cameras and still cameras that will take photos of the bus every 15 minutes and send them to the control room. Based on the location, the nearest depot manager will be informed, and a flying squad will be dispatched to assist. The control room will monitor the bus's journey, and if any offenders are identified, they will be taken to the nearest police station.
All new Roadways buses will soon be equipped with panic buttons, GPS, vehicle tracking systems, and passenger information systems to ensure women's safety.
