“It is a dream come true for me. Really happy with what I did for my country, I can’t express it in words. I’ll never forget that I scored a hundred in the World Cup against Pakistan,” the ‘Player of the Match’ Jaiswal said after receiving his award.
“It is just the start though, I have to work really hard in the future as well,” he added. The youngster is also the current leading run-getter of the tournament.
Coming from a very humble background, Jaiswal has in the past sold panipuri, worked at a milk dairy, among other part-time jobs to survive after he shifted to Mumbai for his training. And now, his efforts have paid off.
Recently, former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag accredited Jaiswal’s change in destiny because of hard work. He shared two pictures on Twitter, showing his journey.
Sehwag captioned the picture, ‘Mehnat.com’ and shared it with his followers.
Besides Virender Sehwag, former Indian cricketer VVS Laxman also eulogized Jaiswal’s batting effort in the U-19 CWC semifinal against Pakistan.
