Indian batsmen demolished Australian bowling attack as they made 190-4. Kangaroos won the toss and chose to field first. KL Rahul fell short of 50 while attempting a ramp shot off Coulter Nile’s ball, he made 47 runs off 26 balls before falling to Coulter-Nile’s ball. Shikhar Dhawan who came in place of Rohit Sharma made 24-ball 14 before giving a catch to Marcus Stoinis off Behrendorff’s ball.
Rishabh Pant continued his poor streak of performances when he attempted a shot without timing and gave away a catch to Jhye Richardson off D’Arcy Short’s ball, Pant made just 1 run off 6 balls. MS Dhoni came in and played a wonderful cricket after a lot of criticism in last match. Dhoni made 40 0ff 23 balls.
Skipper Virat Kohli was the highest run scorer for India as he made an amazing 72 off just 38 balls. Kohli’s half-century included 6 sixes and 2 four. Both Dhoni and Kohli made a hundred run stand before the wicket-keeper fell off Cummins' ball. Dinesh Karthik came in to finish off the innings and hit two fours off 3 balls he played.
Jason Behrendorff, Nathan Coulter-Nile, D'Arcy Short and Pat Cummins took one wicket each to finish the first innings.
