Former India skipper MS Dhoni completes 15 years in international cricket

India’s World Cup winning skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni on Monday completed 15 years in international cricket, a landmark that has eventuated at a time when he has distanced himself from cricket.

The Ranchi boy, who made his debut in 2004 against Bangladesh under the captaincy of Sourav Ganguly has been one of the most effective cricketer, he has cumulated 17,266 runs across all formats for the national side.

The veteran wicketkeeper featured in 350 ODIs, 90 Tests and 98 T20Is while being involved in astonishing 829 dismissals behind the stumps.

The 38-year-old’s career is adorned with several records which includes leading the national team to glory in the 2011 World Cup, where he wrapped up the match with a six .

Under the captaincy of MS Dhoni, team India rejigged into one of the most successful ODI side in world cricketand he is the only captain to have won all the three major ICC trophies. The World Cup 2011, the T20I World Cup 2007, the Champions Trophy in 2013. he also guided the men in blue to the number one spot in ICC Ranking in Test and ODIs.

MS Dhoni also led his IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings to three titles and two Champions League Twenty win.

However, the last few months have been filled with speculations vis-a-vis his retirement.

He last featured for the men in blue during the ICC World Cup 2019 semis against the Kiwis in July where he fell through a run out following a fifty.

"Don't ask me anything till January," the former skipper recently told the mediapersons when the questions about his retirement. For the record, MS Dhoni will certainly be donning the CSK Yellow during IPL 2020.
