Big blow for India as Jasprit Bumrah ruled out of Test squad, replaced by Umesh Yadav
Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the Test squad after he suffered from a minor stress fracture in his lower back. Bumrah was part of the team that was supposed to play a three-match Test series against South Africa.
Umesh Yadav has replaced the Indian bowling spearhead in the Test squad as announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The news came as a major setback for India as Jasprit Bumrah was supposed to lead the Indian bowling attack in the Test series.
BCCI tweeted, “JUST IN: Umesh Yadav replaces Jasprit Bumrah in India's Test squad #TeamIndia fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has sustained a minor stress fracture in his lower back and has been ruled out of the upcoming Paytm Freedom Series for Gandhi-Mandela Trophy against South Africa.”
India and South Africa will play a three-match Test series starting from October 2. The three-match T20I series ended in a draw as both India and South Africa won one match each.
