Viral Video: Curious tiny turtle scares, chases lion

In movies, we have all seen numerous characters who are small and less threatening than others, but in the climax, they play a key role and completely change the story.

Just like the baby Groot from ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’. But how often do you see a story like this play out in the wild?

In today’s video digest, we have brought a clip in which a tiny marsh terrapin turtle can be seen scaring and chasing a full-grown lion.

In the clip, a lion can be seen drinking water from a waterhole when a fearless turtle emerges from the water and chases the big cat, without fearing for its life. The big cat can be seen scared and walking away from the tiny turtle.

The video was shared on Twitter by an account named @natureisamazing with the caption, “Confused lion chased from his watering hole by curious turtle.” Since being shared, the clip has accumulated more than 6.6 million views and more than 59,000 likes.

According to EastCoast Radio, the clip was shot in Kruger National Park by safari guide Reggi Barreto. He had heard that a few lions had caught a zebra and were eating it. The safari guide knew that after finishing eating, the lions would come to the waterhole to drink water. He, along with his visitors, stopped the vehicle near the waterhole and waited for the lions and recorded the amazing clip.

As per Barreto, the little turtle was not chasing the lion, but the zebra's blood that was on the big cat’s chin. When the lion was drinking water, the blood mixed in the water, to which the turtle got attracted.
