One of the largest craft fairs in the world, the 'Surajkund Mela,' has kicked off today, February 3, in the southern ridge of the national capital. The cultural extravaganza offers dance performances, amazing handicraft items, artifacts, and mouthwatering savories from different states.

This year marks the 36th edition of the Surajkund Mela. What sets this fair apart is the showcasing of rare artifacts and handicraft items, along with cultural programs and delicious delicacies, all in one place. The Mela attracts lakhs of visitors, including thousands of foreign tourists, who come to admire the incredible work of rural Indian artists.

Surajkund Mela: Location

The Mela venue is located on the southern Delhi ridge of the Aravalli range at Surajkund village in the Faridabad district of Haryana. The mela is located near to Surajkund lake, also famously known as the Lake of the Sun.

Surajkund Mela is organised by Surajkund Mela Authority and Haryana Tourism in collaboration with the Union Ministry of Tourism, Textiles, Culture, and External Affairs.

Surajkund Mela: Date And Time

The 16-day long affair has started today and the curtain will fall on February 19, 2023. The timings for visitors start at around 10:30 am and end at 8:30 pm.

Surajkund Mela: How To Reach

  • Buses are available from ISBT, Shivaji Stadium, Gurgaon, Faridabad, and Surajkund.
  • Visitors can also hire a tourist cab or tourist coach to the venue from Delhi.
  • Visitors who are coming from flight, can hire a cab from the Delhi airport, the mela is roughly 25 km from Palam airport and just 35-miniute drive from Indira Gandhi International Airport.
  • Visitors who want to travel by train can reach the Delhi railway stations. Then they can travel by train to Faridabad and Gurgaon.
