Shocker: 7-year-old boy thrown 27 times in judo class dies after 70 days treatment

In a heartbreaking incident, a seven-year-old Taiwanese boy died two months after his coma treatment, a hospital said Wednesday.

The now-deceased boy was identified by his family name Huang. He was admitted to Feng Yuan Hospital in central Taichung city on April 21 after he was allegedly thrown 27 times to the floor during a judo class.

In the past few days, Huang’s blood pressure and heart rate continued to decline and his parents decided to take him off life support on Tuesday evening, Feng Yuan Hospital said.

His coach identified by his surname, Ho, was formally indicted on June 4 on charges of inflicting severe injuries on children and using children to commit a crime under Article 112 of the Protection of Children and Youths Welfare and Rights Act and causing injury to another person under Article 277 of the Criminal Code.

According to media reports, Ho instructed other children to practice with Huang even when the boy was not familiar with the basic judo movements.

The boy also complained of a bad headache but Ho didn’t listen to him and thrown him a dozen more times that caused him to vomit.

According to prosecutors, the judo coach didn’t stop until Huang collapsed fell on the floor.
Huan also begged his coach to stop multiple times, saying he could not do it anymore, according to Taiwan’s Central News Agency.

According to local media, the boy’s family said that he was thrown about 27 times.

Prosecutors said Huang’s head was repeatedly hit on the floor but didn’t specify any number.

Expressing the grief over the death of Huang, Taichung city mayor Lu Shiow-yen wrote in her FB post, “Wish you can rest in peace in another world and the justice system can finally bring comfort to your family.”
