Yatra: Malayalam megastar Mammootty to play late Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy in his Telugu comeback
Fans of Mammootty have a reason to rejoice as the legendary actor is all set to make his Telugu comeback soon. The Malayalam superstar's previous Telugu release, Railway Coolie was released in the year 1998, which also starred veteran actress Meena.
And now, after a long-gap-of-20 years, Mammootty is all set to make his Telugu comeback with the biopic of none other than late Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy, who passed away in 2009 in a helicopter crash.
Directed by Mahi Raghav of Anando Brahma fame, the film titled Yatra will be jointly produced by Vijay Chilla and Shashi Devireddy. On Wedneday, the makers have confirmed that Mammootty will be seen portraying the role of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister in Yatra.
Mahi Raghav expressed his happiness to have Mammootty on board for Yatra.
"It’s an absolute honour to be working with Mammootty Sir. It’s too early to talk about the project but I can say confidently that he will fit the bill in this role", Raghav said.
In his 39-year-career span, the three-time National-award winner has acted in three Telugu films including the classical hit Swati Kiranam.
