Tamil Nadu box office : Tamil version of Mohanlal's Pulimurugan opens better than new Tamil releases

The Tamil dubbed version of Mohanlal's 2016 hit film Pulimurugan released on Friday. The film, an action-entertainer, has been directed by Vysakh of Pokkiriraja and Seniors fame and produced by Tomichan Mulakupadam was released on October 7 last year. Pulimurugan featured Lalettan in the titular role of Murugan, a wild hunter.

According to latest box office reports, Tamil dubbed version of Pulimurugan has opened to very good opening at the Tamil Nadu box office. A good opening was expected as film had released in 2D and 3D versions simultaneously in a good number of 305 screens across the Tamil Nadu. But the surprising factor is that the the Tamil version of the Mohanlal starrer opens better than new Friday releases including Maragatha Naanayam and even higher than last week's Friday release Sathriyan.

Noted Tamil trade analyst Naganathan took to his Twitter account to share the update:

"#Pulimurugan Vgood opening in TN (better tan last week #Sathriyan Day-1 opening) nd highest among tis week releases. Super audience report"

Upon its Kerala release, Pulimurugan emerged as the first Rs. 100 crore grosser of Malayalam cinema and has already minted Rs. 150 crore worldwide. Similar to Pulimurugan, it's Telugu dubbed version, Manyam Puli too was a hit.

Pulimurugan also stars Telugu actor Jagapati Babu, Bengali actress Kamalini Mukherjee, Namitha, Vinu Mohan, Lal, Bala and Gopakumar.
