Richa Chadha to learn Malayalam for South Indian adult film star Shakeela biopic
It's known that Bollywood actress Richa Chadha is portraying the lead role in the biopic of popular South Indian adult film star Shakeela. Directed by noted Kannada filmmaker Indrajith Lankesh, the untitled film will be bankrolled by a top Bollywood production house. The film will be made simultaneously in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam.
Reportedly, Richa Chadha has already started learning Malayalam language for the film. The Gangs of Wasseypur and Masaan actress has already hired a Malayalam tutor to learn the nuances of the language and master the accent.
Shakeela emerged as a superstar in Malayalam film industry in early 2000; thanks to her career-defining hit Kinnarathumbikal. The film, a 2000 blockbuster, was made on a small budget of Rs 12 lakh by A Salim under the banner of Miyami Productions, went on to collect a massive Rs 4 crore at the Box Office.
Kinnarathumbikal went on to become one of the biggest hits of the year and later got remade in all South Indian languages. The craze for the film was so high that it was later remade in Nepalese, Chinese, and Sinhala. Following the success of Kinnarathumbikal, the soft-porn actress acted in 25 plus soft-porn movies, out of which most of her films met with success at the Box Office. Few of her films even outperformed the films of big M's of Mollywood -- Mammootty and Mohanlal, at that time.
The Shakeela biopic will starts rolling from the first week of May. The film will be shot in Bengaluru and Kerala.
