Two Rajinikanth films are slated to release soon, 2.0 and Kaala Karikaalan. While the Shankar directorial also co-stars Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar, Kaala Karikaalan marks the second collaboration of actor-director duo Rajinikanth-PA Ranjith after Kabali. Kaala Karikaalan will also see the first collaboration of Rajinikanth with his son-in-law Dhanush.

Earlier, there were reports that Kaala Karikaalan will hit the screens before 2.0.

However, Dhanush, who's producing Kaala Karikaalan confirmed that his film will hit the screens only after the release of 2.0. He also revealed that 40% Kaala Karikaalan's shoot is still remaining and he is planning to release the film as 2018 summer release.

Kaala Karikaalan stars Bollywood actress Huma Qureshi in the female lead. The film also stars Nana Patekar, Samuthirakani, Anjali Patil, Sukanya and Sampath Raj in supporting roles.
