Drishyam: Mohanlal, Jeetu Joseph, Antony Perumbavoor blockbuster becomes India's first regional film to be remade in Chinese language
It's a proud moment for Malayalam film fraternity! The 2013 Malayalam blockbuster, Mohanlal starrer
Drishyam is all set to be remade in Chineese language. The suspense thriller, directed by Jeetu Joseph and bankrolled by Antony Perumbavoor under the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas starred the Malayalam superstar along with Meena, Ansiba Haasan, Esther Anil, Asha Sarath and Kalabhavan Shajon.
The content of Drishyam was so strong that it was later remade in Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi. Commendably, all the remakes were met with success.
Jeetu Joseph took to his Facebook page to share the update through a live video. The remake rights were sold to a Chinese production company, whose representatives were also present with the Malayalam director and Antony Perumbavoor in the live video.
And with this feat, Drishyam emerged as India's first regional film to be remade in Chineese language.
Mohanlal too, took to his Facebook page to share the update. The 5-time-National-award-winning actor posted:
"Malayalam Movie Industry is conquering more heights, Today at Beijing a Chinese Company bought the remake rights of our movie Drishyam. Indeed a Proud moment for our Industry and Congrats to the whole team behind the success of Drishyam".
Drishyam was a trendsetter at the Kerala Box Office as well upon its theatrical release. The film has raked in Rs. 75 crore at the Box Office to become the first Malayalam film to do so. Drishyam is also the all-time second Malayalam blockbuster after Mohanlal's Rs. 100 crore blokcbuster Pulimurugan.
