The nation is celebrating the valor of Maratha warrior king Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on Wednesday. Especially, in Maharashtra, it is one of the auspicious days for Maharashtrians to commemorate.
Last year, Fatteshikast, the first Marathi film that was based on the life event of Chhatrapati Shivaji, hit the silver screen on November 15, 2019 . The film was based on the encounter between Maratha warrior king Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Mughal army general Shaista Khan in Pune.
The latest information has come to light that the Indian Army has decided to archive the Marathi film based on Chhatrapati Shivaji’s life, which is directed by Digpal Lanjekar.
Lanjekar told PTI that his movie will be a part of the Army’s liberal and soldiers who will join the Maratha Light Infantry regiment will watch the film based on Maratha warrior.
"I received a letter from the Army on Tuesday and the archival process will be completed in a month," he said.
"The movie depicts the valor of our ancestors. The event shown in the film will inspire the soldiers. Hence, every soldier who joins the Maratha Light Infantry will get to see the film," the director said.
"Fatteshikast" is the depiction of the struggle of the Maratha army led by Shivaji Maharaj. In which his army fought to capture the Lal Mahal in Maharashtra’s Pune city in the early 1660s.
The director also claimed that it is the first Marathi film based on a life event of Chhatrapati Shivaji to be archived by the Indian Army.
Notably, the film was screened for 4,000 Army personnel in Belgaum, where the Marathi Light Infantry's headquarters is located, in December last year, he said.
The star cast in Fatteshikast was actor Chinmay Mandlekar as Shivaji Maharaj and Anup Soni as Shaista Khan. The film was released on 15 November 2019.
19th February is celebrated as Shiv Jayanti, the birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
