A R Murugadoss is a fantastic director, but making SPYder as a bilingual film was a mistake: Mahesh Babu
Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu's Bharat Ane Nenu is slated to hit the screens across the India tomorrow. The film, which marks his second collaboation with director Koratala Siva after the blockbuster Srimanthudu will see him portraying the titular role of a chief minister in the film. Bharat Ane Nenu also marks the Telugu debut of Bollywood actress Kiara Advani.
Bharat Ane Nenu will be an acid test for the Tollywood Prince as the actor's previous two releases Brahmotsavam and the A R Murugadoss directorial SPYder turned out to be disasters at the Box Office.
In a recent interview while promoting Bharat Ane Nenu, Mahesh Babu revealed the main reason for the SPYder debacle.
"I feel that we shouldn’t have made Spyder as a bilingual film. That was a mistake. A R Murugadoss is a fantastic director, and since we were making a bilingual film, he tried to balance my image in both the markets. Clearly, that didn’t work for us because the audience’s perception is quite different here in Telugu. They need a strong element of heroism in such films. Since we were trying to strike a balance between the two versions, we ended up giving a lot of importance to the Tamil market. If we had scrutinised it more before filming it, perhaps it would have been a better film and the result would have been different", Mahesh Babu said.
Meanwhile, Bharat Ane Nenu is all set to have it's USA theatrical release on Thursday.
