Ayodhya Case Verdict: India gives messages of 'unity in diversity'

The Supreme Court verdict in the Babri Masjid-Ramjanmabhoomi land dispute case in Ayodhya goes a long way in cementing the social fabric of the country. The developments before and after the delivery of the judgment on November 9 inspire hope that we Indians eventually rise to the occasion and embrace harmony, peace and mutual self-respect for each other's religion and sentiments.

Full faith in the rule of law
The respect shown by Indians towards the verdict highlights deep-rooted belief in the Supreme Court. All the concerned parties in the dispute and leaders of various political parties have shown utmost restraint and expressed their faith in the Supreme Court.

A real show of Hindu-Muslim unity
The verdict may not have met the expectations of some, but one thing is very clear—both the parties are determined not to let the Hindu-Muslim bonhomie be a victim of the verdict. This realisation has restrained all of us from making any adverse statement.

Administrative machinery at its best
Weeks before the delivery of the judgment, forces were deployed at sensitive places to meet any eventuality. Required curbs on internet services in some areas were imposed. Hatemongers on social media were being tracked and monitored. This ensured the situation never got manipulated by those trying to disturb social harmony.

Ability to address difficult situations
No easy solution was available but leaving this wound open would have continued threatening peace and harmony in the country.
Now, after the verdict, we are ready to move forward with our lives. Unity in diversity is the real winner here.
