UP Govt to launch statewide campaign against communicable diseases from Oct 1

The Uttar Pradesh Government is going to run a massive campaign against communicable diseases from October 1.

During the month-long campaign, as many as 11 departments will run the encephalitis and vector-borne disease prevention programme. ASHA-Anganwadi workers will go-door-to-door to identify those with TB, the flu, fever, malnourished children, and other illnesses like ILI (Influenza Like Illness). The reports will send to the Health Department of the state.

UNICEF and the World Health Organization will also take part in the state-wide campaign. To make sure the campaign is successful, nodal officials will be recruited from each department. Periodic gatherings with the nodal officials would be arranged to monitor campaign-related activities.

The Uttar Pradesh Government has made every attempt to address the health issues posed by vector-borne and other seasonal diseases.

Instructions have been issued to the Medical and Health Department, Department of Urban Development, Panchayati Raj and Rural Development, Education, Bal Vikas Sewa Evam Pushtahar, Department of Medical Education, Agriculture and Irrigation, Animal Husbandry, Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Department, Department of Horticulture and Information Department to prepare an action plan in this regard.

A major focus of the programme is raising awareness about vector control, hygiene, garbage disposal, preventing water logging, and the availability of clean drinking water. After the end of the campaign, the teams will send the interdepartmental report to the mail of the Communicable Disease Unit and Directorate General of Health Services.

Additionally, anti-larvae medications and fogging agents will be sprayed in both urban and rural regions, whereas dirty areas will be identified and a cleanliness drive launched there on a massive scale.

In the months of April and July 2022, two stages of the Communicable Disease Control Campaign and 'The Dastak Campaign' were carried out in all 75 districts of the state, an official statement said.
