‘Failure of ……’: Aaditya Thackeray slams Shinde govt over Pro-Pak slogans
Shiv Sena leader Aaditya Thackeray unleashed a barrage of jibes at Chief Minister Eknath Shinde-led Maharashtra Government over pro-Pakistan slogans raised during a protest by the Popular Front of India's members in Pune. He said that the incident showed the ‘failure’ of the law and order in the state.
"The government must come down swiftly and hard on those who indulged in pro-Pakistan slogans. The fact that someone dared to do so, and is yet roaming free, means this is a major law and order failure in Maharashtra, "said Aaditya Thackeray.
In a video, which surfaced on social media, PFI members can be seen allegedly raising ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ slogans during a protest following raids and arrests of their leaders by NIA. The protest was held outside the district collector’s office in the city.
As per PTI, the police detained as many as 40 PFI supporters. The Maharashtra state BJP leaders demanded stringent action against those who raised the pro-Pak slogans.
Pune police said that they have taken cognisance of the matter and are investigating it thoroughly.
"We have already registered a case against the PFI members for unlawful assembly and we are looking into the slogan matter," said Sagar Patil, Deputy Commissioner of Police, as quoted by PTI.
The National Investigation Agency has arrested over 100 PFI members and activists from 15 states for allegedly supporting terror activities in the country.
