After Rahul's Sholay jibe how GST = Great Sarcasm on Twitter
“Kitne Aadmi thhe? (How many of them?)”, thundered Gabbar Singh onscreen in Sholay and became a legend. Four decades down the line the Congress fell back on the iconic villain to make a metaphor out GST.
GST = Goods and Service Tax, right? Wrong. A resurgent Rahul Gandhi changed it to Gabbar Singh Tax. His social media team, which has recently found its mojo and some more quickly chimed in with a video clip of the 1975 blockbuster spliced with RaGa's offensive.
It soon became a thing on social media. Gandhi, who is tipped to be taking over the party reins from mother Sonia within a month now, added to his fancount. Others, meanwhile, decided to join the fun in renaming GST.
There already was pent-up frustration regarding the issue – more so ever since the Bharatiya Janata Party targeted Tamil superstar Vijay and his Diwali release Mersal: the actor apparently had taken a good dig at the new tax regime and that didn't go down well with the saffron party despite their microscopic presence in Tamil Nadu.
