WTC Final: Ravindra Jadeja on brink of becoming fourth Indian to achieve this massive feat

Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is for all i know the most improved cricketer across formats. Starting as a spinner with the potential to score handy runs down the batting order, Jadeja has showed exemplary improvement to his batting skill. In the past few years, the all-rounder averages 55.57 with the bat in Tests in comparison to his overall average of 36.18. Since the final Test match at the Oval from India's tour of England three years ago, there is no looking back for Jadeja.

He is a wicket taker, a blazing batsman and arguably the best fielder in the world. From being a back-up for R Ashwin, Jadeja has not only become India's Most Valuable Player, but has gone on to become a key figures in the side.

The last time India came face-to-face with New Zealand in an ICC event, Jadeja fought valiantly with a sparkling fifty but it wasn't enough to get India across the line. However, a little less than two years later, the all-rounder will be back in a similar situation – in England, against the Black Caps in the final of the maiden World Test Championship.

While Jadeja will be looking to deliver his best, the all-rounder is on the brink of an impressive milestone. Jadeja has amassed 1954 runs and scalped 220 wickets in Tests, which means he is only 46 runs away from becoming one of the few Indian cricketers to have scored more than 2000 runs and taken more than 200 wickets in the longest format of the game.

As a matter of fact, once Jadeja achieves the feat, he will become only the fifth Indian cricketer to do so and what better way to light up the occasion than during the big final of the first-ever WTC.

The all-rounder will will join a elite list once he gets those valuable 46 runs and accompany Anil Kumble, Kapil Dev, Harbhajan Singh and R Ashwin. If he gets to the milestone in the Southampton Test itself, Jadeja will become the fourth-fastest after Ian Botham (42), Imran Khan (50), Kapil (50) and Ashwin (51 Tests).
