Tokyo Olympics: Ravi Kumar Dahiya storms into final, assured of medal
Indian wrestler Ravi Kumar Dahiya entered the finals of the men’s freestyle 57 kg category at the ongoing Tokyo Olyimpics after winning against Kazakhstan’s Nurislam Sanayev in the semi-finals at Makuhari Messe Hall A, Mat Bon Wednesday. Ravi won by fall.
The Indian wrestle will take part in the finals on Thursday and he is the first to go into the final since Sushil Kumar in 2012. During the first period, Ravi Kumar Dahiya managed to take a 2-1 lead and in the second period, the tension was absolutely on his combatant.
Nurislam Sanayev came back strongly into the game in the second period and he swiftly caught up with the lead of the Indian wrestle. Earlier, in the second period, the whole pressure was put down on Dahiya. Eventually, the Indian grappler came back and thereby, India has been guaranteed a silver medal.
On Wednesday, Ravi Kumar Dahiya had gone into the semis of the men’s freestyle 57 kg category. The Indian grappler beat Bulgaria’s Georgi Valentinov Vangelov by sheer power and quickness at Mat A by 14-4.
