National Sports Day: Fans and sportspersons pay homage to hockey wizard Major Dhyan Chand
Sports is something which encourages children, gives medals and reputation to sportsmen and glory and respect to a nation. Hence India celebrates it’s National Sports Day on August 29th.
This day commemorates the birth anniversary of Indian hockey wizard Major Dhyan Chand. Regarded as one of the finest to have played the game, he was known for his goal scoring skill. Dhyan Chand won three Olympic Gold medals, in 1928, 1932 and 1936. that was a point in history when India dominated world hockey.
On the juncture of National Sports Day, fans and sportspersons are all recalling the hockey icon and paying their homage. “Heartfelt Tributes to the legend, ‘The Magician Of Hockey’ and ‘The Wizard’ #MajorDhyanChand on his Birth Anniversary. Major Dhyan Chand scored over 400 goals in his career which lasted over 22 years. National Stadium in New Delhi was remaned to Dhyan Chand National stadium in 2002. The nation also initiated the highest award for lifetime achievement in sports after his name.
