CWG 2018: Mary Kom brings first Gold for India in boxing by snatching victory from the jaws of defeat
Common Wealth Games 2018 has made the country proud this year, as there are 20 gold medals, 13 silver and 14 bronze medals have come for the country.
Indian boxer MC Mary Kom has made the country again proud and created the history after winning the gold medal in women’s 45-48 kg category at the ongoing Common Wealth Games, 2018 in Gold Coast, Australia.
Marry Kom has registered the victory against Northern Ireland’s Kristina O’Hara and claim the yellow medal today. The five-time world champion won 30-27, 30-27, 29-28, 30-27, 20-27 to land the verdict in her favour.
Earlier, Mary Kom also claimed the Gold medal in her fifth Asian Championships in Vietnam. It was definitely one of the greatest comebacks in Indian sports. The 35-year-old boxer performance shows that she had come back with the outbursting performances. However, she had faced the disappointment for not qualifying the Rio Olympics on the backburner.
However, Mary Kom has been a five times world champion and five times Asian Champion and also got the bronze medal in Olympics for the country.
Talking about Mary Kom, she is a mother of three children and Bollywood also made a biographical film Mary Kom in 2014. Priyanka Chopra had played the role as Mary in the film. The movie also got the National Award in 2015.
Today we have got three gold medals for the country- two in boxing by Mary Kom and Gaurav Solanki and one in the shooting by Sanjeev Rajput.
