Babar Azam overtakes Virat Kohli, Hashim Amla to register new ODI record

Pakistan skipper Babar Azam is on a record-breaking spree in the in progress series against the Aussies. In the first ODI match, he went on to become the second-fastest batsman to score 4,000 ODI runs and in the second ODI, Babar scored a brilliant ton and as a result, he went past Hashim Amla and Virat Kohli to script yet another milestone in the limited over cricket. In the second ODI, he knocked 114 runs off just 83 balls to help Pakistan chase down 349.

Babar Azam's knock was adorned with 11 fours and a six and because of this incredible innings, the Pakistan skipper has become the fastest batsman to register 15 ODI hundreds. The 27-year-old got to the milestone in just his 83rd innings, which is 23 innings quicker than third-placed Virat Kohli.

South African cricketing icon Hashim Amla is second on the list as he had scored 15 tons in 86 innings. David Warner and Shikhar Dhawan had registered this record in 108 innings.

As a result of chasing down 349 in the second ODI, Pakistan equaled the series and the decider will now take place on Saturday at the Gaddafi Stadium.

Following the run chase, Pakistan registered their highest-ever chase in ODI cricket. Besides, Babar, Imam-ul-Haq also scored a century in the second ODI and this is the left-hander's second back to back hundred against Australia.
