Asian Games 2018: PV Sindhu beats Akane Yamaguchi and became first Indian female shuttler to reach finals
After disappointments over the past few competitions, Indian shuttler PV Sindhu has the opportunity to secure gold medal in women’s singles badminton at the Asian Games at Jakarta.
PV Sindhu seals the match point and wins 21-17, 15-21, 21-10 to win the semifinal against Akane Yamaguchi.It's 1st time an Indian female shuttler has reached Final of Individual event To take on World No. 1 Tai Tzu Ying in Final tomorrow.
Both the Indian shuttler PV Sindhu and Saina Nehwal secures medal for India. PV Sindhu beats Thailand's Jindapol Nitchaon 21-11, 16-21, 21-14 to reach semifinals. Saina Nehwal beats Ratchanok Intanon 21-18, 21-16 in the quarterfinal to reach semifinals and became the first Indian woman to win a badminton singles medal.
However, Syed Modi was the only Indian to win a medal at the Asian Games when he clinched the men's singles bronze during the 1982 edition.
