Yashwant Sinha, Arun Shourie & advocate Prashant Bhushan move to SC, request to review Rafale case verdict
Former union minister Yashwant Sinha, Arun Shourie & advocate Prashant Bhushan have moved to Supreme Court on Wednesday and requested to review its December 14 verdict in Rafale case that gave the PM Modi-led Bhartiya Janta Party a clean chit in controversial scam case.
In the petition, Sinha, who was sidelined by BJP for long before announcing his exit from the party, Shourie and advocate Bhushan alleged that the verdict relied on the incorrect claims made by the government in an unsigned note given in a sealed cover to the Supreme Court. They have also requested an oral hearing of the petition in an open court.
Earlier, the apex court had ruled that there were no loops to doubt the decision-making process behind the Rafale aircraft deal. The top court cleared that the Congress repeatedly accused the centre of Rs. The 59,000-crore contract is false.
Following which, the court rejected an investigation and dismissed the plea that had alleged that the government had gone for an overpriced deal to help Anil Ambani's company bag an offset contract with jet-maker Dassault. "There is no evidence of commercial favouritism to any private entity," the court had said.
