When a ‘chowkidar’ robbed former Gujarat CM Shankersinh Vaghela of Rs 7 lakh
Where Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently launched a campaign ‘Main Bhi Chowkidar’, a former BJP stalwart Shankersinh Vaghela’s house was looted by his ‘chowkidar’. Vaghela is an ex-Congress leader and now a Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader’s house was robbed in October 2018, but it came to light only in February during a wedding in the family.
According to reports, Shankersinh Vaghela's chowkidar (security guard) and his wife are the prima facie in the theft. Since the last four years, the couple had been living in the Vaghela house.
Reportedly, last year in October, Vaghela's domestic help Basudev Nepali aka Shambhu Gurkha and his wife fled his house 'Vasant Vagada' in Gujarat’s Gandhinagar with Rs 3 lakh cash and about 135-gram gold. Total the ornaments and cash worth Rs 7 lakh cash were looted.
They left saying that their children have to be admitted to a school. When they were contacted and asked to return, the duo refused, following which it was suspected that the two had committed the crime. An FIR has been registered.
