"What initially surprised me was that instead of Samsung, I found a box of Redmi 5A. The seal of the box was broken and on opening it, I found a couple of marble pieces," Murmu told Telegraph. Murmu also told, he placed this order ahead of Diwali week.
He also added that his wife received the package as he was not at home and paid Rs 11,999 as he placed an order via cash on delivery payment mode.
When Murmu opened the box on Monday, he left stunned after seeing the contents of the box.
Alok Rajoria, Malda Police Chief, told the daily, "We will take action on the complaint."
Murmu's complaint was lodged with English Bazar police station in Malda soon after and told The Times of India, “I had never ordered anything online before. My son does it. This was the first time that I ordered something online. I will report the matter to the Union minister of consumer affairs."
