West Bengal: Amit Shah-led BJP allowed to hold 3 Rath-Yatras in Bengal by Calcutta High Court

Amit Shah-led BJP allowed to hold 3 Rath-Yatras in Bengal by Calcutta High Court. The Court gave permission for the three centers of BJP in West Bengal, directs that the administration should ensure that there is no breach of law and order, reported news agency ANI.

A single judge bench had earlier agreed with the state government decision to refuse permission to Amit Shah's 'rath yatra' on grounds possible "communal tension".

Meanwhile, The Calcutta High court has also scrapped the objections of the Mamata Banerjee-led TMC government, which had claimed that the yatras could trigger communal tensions.

Responding to the Calcutta HC ruling, BJP senior leader Kailash Vijayvargiya said. "We welcome this decision&we had trust on judiciary that we'll get justice. This decision is a slap on the face of tyranny. We haven't decided anything but I can assure that PM&party chief will join the yatra."

Earlier, the centre ruling Bhartiya Janta Party chief Amit Shah was denied permission to hold Rath Yatra in Kolkata after a decision by the Calcutta High Court.

Shah, who had planned a grand Rath Yatra in West Bengal ahead of the Lok Sabha election 2019 but the plans are now staggered due to court's ruling, has been allowed to hold three yatras in West Bengal.
