Weather: Temperature to dip by 3-5 degrees in Delhi, Rajasthan; rainfall alert in these states; check full forecast

The mercury dipped after rain lashed parts of North West India today, January 29th. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted showers for East Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan for January 29th and 30th.

“Isolated to scattered rainfall over East Uttar Pradesh and over Rajasthan on 29th &30th; Isolated very light rainfall/drizzle also likely over Delhi on January 29 and morning hours of January 30th and morning hours of 30th January, 2023,” the IMD said in its weather bulletin.

“Light/moderate scattered to fairly widespread Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and West Uttar Pradesh on 29 and 30th,” the IMD added.

The weather department also predicted dense fog conditions over several parts of North West and Eastern India.

Rajasthan

Light to moderate rain with thunderstorms was reported in some parts of Eastern Rajasthan, while Western Rajasthan experienced light to moderate showers in the last 24 hours.

The maximum rainfall in Eastern Rajasthan was reported in Sahada (Bhilwara) at 27mm, while the maximum showers in Western Rajasthan were received in Jaswantpur (Jalore) at 19mm.

Weather Warnings

A yellow alert for thunderstorm/ thunderbolt has been issued for these districts - Alwar, Banswara, Banswara, Bharatpur, Bhilwara, Bundi, Chittorgarh, Dausa, Dholpur, Jaipur, Dungarpur, Jhunjhunu, Karauli, Kota, Pratapgarh, Sawai Madhopur, and Sri Ganganagar. The warning is for tomorrow only, January 30.

Orange alert for thunderstorm/ thunderbolt/ hailstorm has been issued for these districts – Ajmer, Alwar, Baran, Bharatpur, Bundi, Bhilwara, Dausa, Dholpur, Jaipur, Karauli, Rajsamand, and Sikar. The warning issued for tomorrow only.

Snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir

The weather department has predicted heavy showers and snowfall over isolated places of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

Rainfall in Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Puducherry

As per IMD, Southern India will witness moderate to heavy showers in the coming week. Thunderstorm is likely over Kerala on January 31. "Heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal on Feb 1," stated IMD. 

Dense fog condition in Northwest India

Owing to the rainfall, the night temperature in several parts of Northwest India will fall by 3-5 degrees Celsius in the next 48 hours. Dense fog conditions will also prevail over Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan and several other parts of North West India.
