UP shoolgirl highlights plight of Unnao survivor, tells police team 'not protected from influential people'

Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday met with an extremely awkward situation when a schoolgirl asked some toughest questions regarding the safety of women in India. Interestingly, she asked this questions during the interaction with UP Police who were at the Anand Bhawan school in Barabanki to speak at a ‘Balika Suraksha Jaagruktaa Abhiyaan’, a safety awareness campaign for girls.

Meanwhile, the video of the class 11 girl has surfaced the Internet in which she can be seen asking some serious questions on women safety and also asked questions about Unnao rape case. However, the policemen were looking discomfited as the student raised her voice over the car crash of the rape survivor on Sunday that left the Unnao teen rape survivor critical and killed two of her relatives.

During citing the example of Unnao rape survivor’s case, the girl alleged the failure of administration in giving protection to the victim, who recently met with a car accident on Sunday.

She raised her voice that how Police would ensure the safety of those who complain against the "influential people" who harass or commit a crime against them.

In the video, she can be heard saying to UP cops, “You said we should raise our voice and protest. We know a teen was raped by a BJP leader," she began and went on to talk about the car crash. "Everyone knows it was no accident. The truck number plate was painted black...It is one thing to protest when an ordinary person is involved, but what when the person is someone powerful? We know no action will be taken if we protest and even if action is taken, it will be of no use. The girl is in a critical state...If we protest, how will you ensure justice? How will you guarantee my safety? What's the guarantee nothing will happen to me?”

However, she said these words when the police officer, Additional Superintendent of Police S Gautam, had spoken about the right of an individual to raise one's voice and protest against the wrong things in society.

In the video, the other students can be seen applauding and hooting when their classmate posed her questions to UP Police.

Moreover, UP Police officer has confirmed that Unnao girl’s family’s allegations that they are receiving multiple threats and intimidation.

As per the reports of NDTV, a senior Police officer MP Verma also confirmed that 25 complaints were received from the family and also added, “From whatever I have seen, I haven't seen any request for security. We are studying the case and we will see.”

On Wednesday, the Supreme Court said that all the cases related to the alleged rape of a girl involving BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar will be transferred from Unnao in Uttar Pradesh.
