The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on March 2 unveiled roaring mascot of the Women's Premier League - 'Shakti'. BCCI secretary Jay Shah took to9 Twitter and shared the fierce mascot.
“Fast, fierce and full of fire! She's ready to set the field ablaze, lekin #YehTohBasShuruatHai ! Introducing the embodiment of the #TATAWPL our mascot #Shakti !,” Shah wrote in the caption.

The WPL is all set to enthrall cricket fans from March 4 with the first match to be played between Gujarat Giants and Mumbai Indians. The inaugural match will be played at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
"The Women's Premier League will be played from March 4 to 26 in Mumbai," PTI quoted IPL chairman Arun Dhumal as saying.
Talking about the WPL, it is the second biggest T20 league in the globe after Indian Premier League. The five teams fetched Rs 4669.00 crore, and the BCCI sold the media rights for Rs 951 crore.
In the first edition of the WPL, cricket fans will watch five team locking horns to clinch the glittery trophy. The five participating franchise are: Royal Challengers Bangalore, Mumbai Indians, Gujarat Giants, Delhi Capitals and the UP Warriorz.
The WPL auction was held in Mumbai at Jio Convention Centre on February 13 this year. The best cricketing talent around the globe went on bidding to be a part of the first-ever season of the WPL.
The WPL auction witnessed life-changing deals and cores of rupees spent by franchises to win the bids and make best players part of their team. The WPL auction was a day to remember for ages especially from the viewpoint of women's cricket in the world.
Interestingly, Smriti Mandhana was the first player to be sold at the WPL auction. The Royal Challengers Bangalore won the bidding and bought her for Rs 3.4 crore. Mandhana was the costliest buy at the WPL inaugural auction. The second most expensive player at the auction was Australia's Ashleigh Gardner. She was sold to the Gujarat Giants for Rs 3.20 crore.
