Vijay Mallya's extradition row: UK Court grants bail to Vijay Mallya; asks India video of prison where he will be kept

The London's Westminster court while hearing on India's case for Vijay Mallya's extradition, granted bail to him. The UK court also asked India for a video of the cell where the liquor baron Vijay Mallya will be kept. The UK Court judge Emma Arbouthnot said she could not go with the photographs that Indian officials have provided the court.

While the hearing case of Vijay Mallya's extradition wanted in India, who is facing charges of money-laundering and fraud, asked for a man seen going into a prison, through the door shown in photographs provided by India.

"Can we shoot it during mid-day? I want to see some natural light, sunlight, whether the windows pick up any natural light," the judge said. Next hearing in the extradition case against Vijay Mallya will be on September 12.

The 62-year-old former Kingfisher Airlines boss, Vijay Mallya, who has been on bail since his arrest in April last year, is fighting extradition to India, citing mainly the poor condition of jails. His case is being heard in the Westminster Magistrates' Court in London.

He arrived at the court along with his son Siddharth. "At the end of the day, the courts will decide," Vijay Mallya tells reporters outside the court.

The 62-year-old liquor baron, Mallya escaped to the UK in 2016 and has been fighting against any moves to extradite him to India to face trial. Mallya is wanted in India for defaulting on loans worth crores and also in a money-laundering case.
