Varun Gandhi's message to Muslim voters: If you don't vote for me then..
In the run up to the third phase of the Lok Sabha polls, BJP’s Pilibhit candidate Varun Gandhi said on Sunday that he would offer help to all the Muslims irrespective of their vote in the elections.
Taking a pole apart stand from her mother Maneka Sanjay Gandhi, Varun has given an open message to the voters that he would be standing by everyone if he wins the elections and there remains no problem if any Muslim doesn’t votes for him.
“I want to say just one thing to my Muslim brothers. I will be very happy if you vote for me. But even if you don''t, no problem at all. You can still come to me for your work (aap phir bhi mujhse kaam le lena)," he said while addressing an election rally in Pilibhit and further added that, “But if your sugar gets mixed with my tea, then my tea will become sweeter.”
Varun Gandhi is a current MP from Sultanpur constituency and her mother Maneka from Pilibhit. The BJP has swapped the seats of both the Gandhi family members for 2019 polls, in a move to counter the anti-incumbency rising for Varun in Sultanpur. Maneka had courted controversy after her reamrks on Muslim community during a rally in Sultanpur.
She had said that she would win the polls with or without the support of Muslims but ‘they must remember that Muslims would want to get their work done, ones BJP comes to power.’
The Election Commission had imposed a 48 hour ban over her remarks as it was in a clear violation of the Model Code of Conduct.
