Vande Bharat Express on Mumbai-Gandhinagar route damaged after hitting buffalo herd
The front portion of the high-speed Vande Bharat Express, running between Mumbai Central to Gurajat's Gandhinagar, damaged after it collided with a herd of buffaloes. The semi-high-speed train was recently flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
"The accident occurred at around 11.15 am between Vatva station to Maninagar station today," said Western Railway Senior PRO, JK Jayant.The front part of the engine had been damaged in the accident.
The Prime Minister flagged off the Gandhinagar-Mumbai Vande Bharat Express last month. He also travelled by the semi-high-speed train from Gandhinagar till Kalupur railway station in Ahmedabad.
Earlier in the day, a tyre burst in the middle of the Bandra Worli Sea Link (BWSL) in the early hours of Wednesday, resulting in a crash and pile-up that left five people dead and eight injured.
