UP government releases guidelines for fifth phase of lockdown, key points

The Yogi Adityanath led Uttar Pradesh government has put out the guidelines for the fifth phase of coronavirus induced lockdown. Often dubbed as the first of the three part exercise to ease the severe restrictions put in place in order to curb the spread of coronavirus.

The government in Uttar Pradesh has to a large extent stuck to the guidelines put out by the Centre.

As per the new order, the government has allowed inter-state travel, but stated that people from containment zones in Delhi will not be permitted to travel to Noida and Ghaziabad.

Although the lockdown will remain in place in the state till 30th June, malls, hotels, restaurants and places of worship will reopen on 8th June. The call on reopening schools and colleges will be taken later in July.

According to Additional Chief Secretary (Home), Awanish Awasthi, if any coronavirus case is found, an area of 250 metres around it will be declared a red zone. And if there are more than one, the containment zone will be made bigger to 500 metres. In the containment zone only essential services will be permitted during this time.

The guidelines issued by the Uttar Pradesh government:

* All offices are allowed to operate from Monday, 1st June.

* Markets can open on rotation basis from 9 am to 9 pm.

* Supermarkets, beauty parlours and salons are permitted to open.

* No passes are needed for inter-state travel, but this rule is not applicable for Noida and Ghaziabad.

* Taxis and rickshaws can take passengers according to the seating capacity in the vehicle

* Roadways buses are allowed to ply, but no passenger is allowed to stand in these buses

* Sweet shops will open, but without the dine-in space.

* International flight services, metro trains will remain closed till further notice.

* The health department can conduct door-to-door surveys and other essential services are also permitted.

* Wedding halls can open, but they are not allowed to accommodate more than 30 people.

* rider and pillion are allowed on two-wheelers but with face masks.

* All the restrictions will carry on in containment zones/hot spots, as per the Home Ministry’s guidelines.
