UP: ATS arrests two suspected Jaish terrorists from Deoband; both hails from J&K
After the terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama on 14 February, the security agencies of the country are on high alert. On Friday, Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) arrested two terrorists from Deoband in Saharanpur district. These terrorists are suspected to belong from Pakistan based terror group, Jaish-e-Mohammad.
Terrorist Shahnawaz Ahmad Teli is a resident of Kulgam of Kashmir while Aqib is from Pulwama. It is being said that Shahnawaz Ahmed was a recruiter of new terrorists in the gang. He was active in western Uttar Pradesh for a long time. Reports say, two weapons and live cartridges seized.
In a press conference, UP DGP OP Singh said, “After inputs two suspected terrorists were caught from Saharanpur by our ATS wing. They are linked to JeM and both are from Kashmir. Shahnawaz is from Kulgam and Aqib is from Pulwama. Two weapons and live cartridges seized.”
“Of the two Shahnawaz is said to be a grenade expert. We will seek transit remand and investigate when they came here from Kashmir and who is funding them and what was their target. We are in touch with J&K Police,” UP DGP OP Singh added.
Let us tell you that on February 14 terrorist attacked security personnel in Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir. This deadly terror attack was carried out by Pakistan based terrorist outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad, in which 40 Indian soldiers were killed. The terrorist attacked was a suicide bombing carried out by Adil Ahmad Dar, who was Pulwama resident and joined JeM last year.
Notably, the UP ATS has arrested many terrorists before Shahnawaz and Aqib. Earlier, the UP ATS had burst the contents of the module being created on the lines of ISIS.
